PORTFOLIO — Bill Siegel

Press releases announcing and explaining the Tecnomatix-EDS/UGS partnership were prepared by both companies. I worked directly with the quoted executives from Tecnomatix, EDS/UGS, and GM to develop and finalize the wording of the releases.

EDS and Tecnomatix Team to Deliver Breakthrough End-to-End Software Solution for Digitizing Manufacturing

Market Leaders to Deliver Combined Offering Based on EDS PLM Open Platform and Tecnomatix Best-in-Class Manufacturing Process Management Solutions

PLANO, Texas and NASHUA, N.H. August 19, 2002 — EDS (NYSE: EDS) and Tecnomatix Technologies, Ltd. (NASDAQ: TCNO) today announced an alliance to jointly develop and deliver Manufacturing Process Management (MPM) software and best-practice solutions designed to decrease clients’ manufacturing costs, shorten time to market, and increase quality.

The agreement enables the immediate addition of the Tecnomatix eMPower MPM solution suite to the EDS’ E-factory and Teamcenter Manufacturing portfolio. The combination of Tecnomatix’s best-in-class manufacturing applications with Teamcenter’s proven enterprise scalability will accelerate integration of product development activities during the transition from the product design stage to the production stage of manufacturing.

According to an article by Kevin Prouty published in the August 2001 AMR Research Alert, “Process management and process design have been the missing pieces between product development and the manufacturing process for years.”

“The EDS/Tecnomatix alliance addresses this gap,” said Tony Affuso, president, EDS PLM Solutions. “The software combination establishes a new benchmark solution across all manufacturing industries for enterprise product and process lifecycle management.”

The Agreement
The agreement leverages the proven development, expertise, market presence and deployment capabilities of both EDS and Tecnomatix, and establishes a joint development strategy, as well as cooperative marketing and distribution rights for both companies. Integrated software is already under evaluation at some customer sites, with additional capabilities — such as added applications and further integration — being aggressively developed by the two companies for deployment over the next six to 12 months.

“GM has been able to find tangible business impact from the use of the Tecnomatix eM-Planner tool and EDS PLM Teamcenter products,” said Clif Triplett, information officer, IS&S Global Produce Product, General Motors. “We see the synergy of this closer relationship between Tecnomatix and EDS PLM Solutions improving the scalability and interoperability of the product offerings and bringing greater value to GM.”

EDS PLM Solutions and Tecnomatix will be able to deliver industry-leading capabilities more effectively and quickly by leveraging their respective industry strengths. For example, this agreement extends EDS PLM Solutions’ leading ability to offer automotive customers a full suite of process planning solutions for Body-In-White, General Assembly, Machining and Powertrain as part of its E-factory portfolio. Tecnomatix can now leverage the scalability of EDS’s Teamcenter Manufacturing to manage thousands of users’ data in a globally distributed environment, as well as leverage EDS sales and services. The comprehensive solution enables dramatic cost reductions for companies while improving the quality and flexibility of their manufacturing processes using a full range of services provided by the powerful PLM Open platform and the best-in-class manufacturing process management capabilities.

“Our customers desire an open enterprise PLM environment,” said Harel Beit-On, president and CEO of Tecnomatix Technologies. “This partnership will allow us to deliver our eMPower MPM technology and solutions integrated to the world’s leading PLM infrastructure. Manufacturers can now have best-in-class MPM solutions integrated to an open enterprise architecture ensuring their systems can grow with them, and with future technologies. We are delighted that EDS endorses our leadership position in the MPM market, and through this agreement we are significantly expanding our access to the market.”

“Rather than the loose coupling of manufacturing and product engineering available from other vendors, our solution allows manufacturers direct access to all aspects of the life-cycle for their products,” said Chuck Grindstaff, president, PLM Products, EDS PLM Solutions. “Our PLM Open architecture enables the rapid combination of EDS’s Teamcenter platform with the eMPower MPM solutions from Tecnomatix. Customers will now be able to seamlessly and efficiently link design and manufacturing disciplines on a proven, scalable platform providing a competitive advantage not possible with other approaches.”

Tecnomatix and UGS PLM Solutions Extend Strategic Alliance for Digital Manufacturing Process

Interoperability between Logistics Analysis and 3D Factory Layout Targets a Reduction in Factory Planning Time and Re-Design Costs

HERZLIA, Israel and PLANO, Texas — January 28, 2004 — Tecnomatix Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: TCNO) and UGS PLM Solutions, the product lifecycle management (PLM) subsidiary of EDS, today announced significantly enhanced interoperability between eM-Plant, the production and logistics visualization tool offered by Tecnomatix and Factory CAD, the 3D factory layout software solution from UGS PLM Solutions.

The interoperability between eM-Plant and Factory CAD merges the best-in-class logistics analysis with 3D factory layout to provide manufacturers a single solution for designing factories and maximizing their productivity. It allows companies to visualize a 3D layout of their factories at the same time that they can optimize material flow through “what-if” simulation analysis.

“The strategic alliance between Tecnomatix and UGS PLM Solutions continues to deliver solutions that are transforming the landscape of the Digital Manufacturing marketplace,” said Robert Nierman, executive vice president, UGS PLM Solutions Business Strategy and Marketing. “This latest announcement unveils the integration of best of class products delivering the benefits of a single comprehensive solution. Customers are the clear beneficiaries of this strategic relationship and are being rewarded with a level of interoperability between solutions previously unmatched in the industry. This will translate into tangible costs savings and dramatic reductions in the planning process.”

“This is just the latest outcome of the close collaboration between UGS PLM Solutions and Tecnomatix,” said Harel Beit-On, chairman and chief executive officer of Tecnomatix. “Factory CAD customers can now run extensive simulation and analysis on their factory models, while Tecnomatix eM-Plant users will be able to create even more detailed plant layouts. Working together, UGS PLM Solutions and Tecnomatix are helping manufacturers reduce planning time and increase quality.”

The integrated solution is based on SDX, the standard for data exchange between 3D factory design and simulation. The collaborative approach allows manufacturers to generate a simulation model from 3D layout data automatically, then visualise, evaluate and optimize the production system. This new collaboration will enable companies to reduce factory planning time and associated re-design costs by verifying system layout, feasibility and performance throughout the entire design process.

“The integration of Factory CAD and eM-Plant allows simultaneous layout and performance analysis, enhancing the collaboration within the manufacturing organization,” said Chuck Grindstaff, executive vice president, UGS PLM Solutions Products. “By bringing these important functions together with our technology, customers will be able to dramatically reduce the iterations that are a common part of providing an optimized factory layout. In today’s environment, where success means pressure for a large variety of on-time new product introductions, coordinating the factory design, internal organization and supply chain is a must.”
